So i either don't have time to post or I post too often, lol.

One of my friends mentioned about getting a feminine looking camera bag and that send me on a internet hunt.
There are some cute, pricey bags out there. Here are some that I was able to find:

Epiphanie Bags Loved these. Pricey at 169.99 and more but they totally look like a regular purse. For those of you that have been scrapbooking a long time Tara Whitney is modeling one of the bags.
Jill-e has a couple of cute bags, but nothing that screamed at me as a must have.
Jo-Totes another great product that would look good on your arm.
Kelly Moore great functional bags, just not feminine enough for me.

Emera Bags um, nice but pricey.

It's one of those scrappy days. Nothing is going right.
I've tried to get the Gypsy to cut for over 2 hrs and it starts and then stops. Updated firmware, still nada.
Gave up and went to Design Studio and convert the gypsy file to a cut file and cut it out - 3 times and it's tearing through my paper. Changed mats tried lowering the blade, raising the blade cutting it on multiple times and still have ripped die cuts. So I've decided that it's time to stop and go onto something else, like updating my blog.

It's been fairly cold in North Texas. Last week we dipped down into the 20's. Very chilly for this time of year.
A couple of weeks ago one of the thermostats gave out which was a lot of fun, not. Thank God for homeoner's warrantries.

On the scrapping front, I went to Michaels and Joanns this past week to take advantage of their sales. walked out of Michaels with nothing. Joanns was a different story. took advantage of their 6 for .96 paper and bought some cardstock..
I decided not to get anything else. So it was a slow shopping week for me, lol.

So now that the first month of 2011 is almost order, I've been thinking of what i should do for the next 11 months. Yes 11 months, I needed a month just to contemplate, lol.
I don't want to call it resolutions cause most people don't keep those and I'm like most people.

I am not going to beat myself up if I don't accomplish these, but these are the target areas that I will be working on:

1. Scrap more. Yes a lot of us say that, but I know for a fact I surf the web more than scrap. Since I work a full time job that is very stressful, I'm going to make sure I be more creative at home. It helps me unwind. Even if it's just planning pages and then gettig them ready to scrap when I have time to scrap.

2. Meet more scrappers. I've been in Texas nearly 4 yrs and haven't been to a crop at all. I've hosted crops in my home (I have an extra room) and it's easier than dragging everything out to crop, but want to meet more people that have simlar interests. This is how I met one of sweet friends in NJ. Michelle and I really clicked since day one and 10 yrs later, we still talk about crafting/scrapbooking all the time.

3.Stop dreaming of the things I want to do and make them happen. I have a list of things I want to do and it always gets put on the back burner. Why I ask myself? It's time to take the plunge into some my ideas.

Let;s see how the year evolves. I hope to get some of these things done.......

Yes I'm late.

That seems to be the topic of my life lately. Just not enough time to get to everything.
The past month has been a whirlwind. December always is. Between Christmas and New Years time just flies for us. Not to mention the all most important event in December- my Birthday. Yes, I thought all the festivities were about me, lol.

I have a lot to share! Starting with the fact that I got a Gypsy! Yay for me!
At first I didn't want a Gypsy. Actually I didn't want to spend the money for a Gypsy. However, I saved enough points through the Cricut rewards program that I was able to get a Gypsy for about 12.00 (the shipping). Can't beat that.

Now that I have the Gypsy how do I feel? Well I like the idea of all my carts being in one spot. I haven't done much with it, but it's fun to use.
I'm trying to get some inspiration so I can actually cut something from it.

Inspiration I said? Actually I have a lot of ideas swimming in my head.
I've resorted to writing them down because I can't get to them all....

I was somewhat productive craft wise, during the holidays.
I made a few pages for my Etsy site. I also made a few things for gift, name memo boards. I got the idea from Oz-Somestamps last year and as usual it took me a year to execute the idea. The pic with the pink is Ozsometamps and the blue is my interpretation. Notice something on the flowers? They match the color scheme. How did I do that? By buying raw flowers at Michaels (recollections brand) and coloring them with a makeup sponge applicator and chalk inks.
I sent them to my family and friends and I got positive comments on them.

Along with the Gypsy I increased my Cricut cartride arsenal by ALOT. Great sales from Black Friday til now!
Alot of carts that I've wanted were as low as 14.99. Although there are some who are apprehensive, I've bought alot from Cricutmachine.com.
I know some have complained about their credit card beng compromised after buying off that site, however, I only use paypal and thank goodness it hasn't been a problem.

Michaels had a wonderful clearance of older carts and I was able to get a couple. I won't say how many carts I now have but, I will say that I have alot to choose from.
Honestly I can't think of any carts I really need. That is until someone creates something cute with a cart and then I must have it.

I was on vacation the last week of December and I decided that my scrapbook studio needed some purging.
I organized my stockpile of cereal boxes, purged my draws o stamps I've hardly or never used and went through other supplies. I'm in the process of taking pictures of items I want to sell, mainly my alphabet stamps and quickutz dies. I decided if I haven't used it in the last year it has to go.

I was also sewing up a storm. I made little sacks for the items I sell on Etsy. I thought it would be a nice gesture for those who buy from me.
I like the way they came out.

If you haven't heard, HSN is launching some new items on Jan 20th so don't forget to set your DVR or VCR (huh) to record starting at midnight Eastern time. There's been a lot of speculation on the Cricut Board as to what the could be launching. Ginger Adams hinted on her Facebook page that Anna Griffin is also launching something new. I think that PC and AG collaborated in something new. I believe it's a cart and I won't be surprised if it's for the imagine. Anna's famous for her paper so just sounds natural to me.
I don't have an imagine, and although I like some of AG stuff, I won't be too disappointed if it's geared toward the imagine.

Now unless you've been living under a rock (or too busy to even see straight) the price of the Gypsy has dropped dramatically. Once it was nearly 300.00 today you can get it on clearance at Michaels for 49.99! This tells me that PC is coming out with something new. For months there's been speculation of another gypsy type device launching soon. I was reading on the Cricut Boards that there's a patent for a new controller/type device that will work not only with the cricut, but perhaps other type of machines. Here's the US patent if you want to read the techy manual. I'm excited to see how they will update Design Studio since it mentioned on one of the pages.

The four day weekend that is.....

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a great one. Very yummy, not so fattening, a lot of shopping and a lot of savings!
I made a Cuban style Thankgiving dinner. I love turkey but hubby and MIL do not. So I made roasted pork, black beans, white rice, Yucca, (a root vegetable for those who don't know) and a salad.
Everyone seemed happy and we had a lot of leftovers.

After I cleaned up, I scrapped a little and waited for the time to go to Michaels.
When I got to Michael's at about 4:45 pm the parking lot was packed and the doors were already open. I went straight for the Cricut display and got what I wanted- Quarter Note. I also picked up some more 1 oz stickles (like I need it) and some ribbon at 60% off and the Recollections Old Fashion Christmas stack I was able to use their additional 20% off all sale items so I not a nice little savings on everything. I was in and out of there by 5:30. Nice, very Nice.
I went home and waited for my next stop at midnight- Walmart.

I left my home around 11 pm and got to Walmart around 11:15 pm. The parking lot was so packed, you think that it was mid-day!

When I got in I saw that there were people in line already. Yes in line. I was handed a map by an employee and I headed straight to where the cricut pallet of goodies were. As I walked towards the back of the store I saw that every pallet designated for Black Friday was unwrapped and people had their carts loaded. It wasn't even 11:30 !! I found the pallet of cricut items and got the carts I wanted and headed towards the lines. On the way, I passed the display with the older carts and picked up a couple of the ones I wanted, hoping they would ring up 20.00 like the new ones. I made my way to the front and got in line. Shortly two women showed up behind me with a ton of cartridges. We struck up a conversation and it we find out we all visit the Cricut Message Board!. I gave them my info and hopefully we can get together to scrap! We all live in the same town! One has a great blog Texas Scrapper Mom check it out! When I checked out the new carts rang 20.00 the old ones 39.00, but I told the cashier that there was nothing indicated in the flyer that they were excluded and she gave me a price adjustment and I got all the carts for 20.00!
I was a happy camper!

That was the only place I hit on Friday. On Saturday I went to Joann's and used Michael's 50% coupon and bought cricut mats and a DCWV Winter stack. My order qualified for an additional 20% off so I got a nice little discount! I went back and used another Michael's coupon and bought another cricut mat pack- trying to build up inventory, lol.
I'm a night scrapper and I hate running out of things in the middle of the night when everyone else is closed.
I tend to keep the essentials in stock, in my scrapbook studio for that reason, lol.

A long with the brick and mortar shopping, I did some shopping on line. I bought some carts at CricutMachine.com and my sweet friend Michelle placed an order for me on Joann's.com. I tried but the site kept crashing. she had more determination to keep trying. Every year is the same thing with their website, you'd think they would improve it by now.

I've been scrapping for the most part these past few days. I'm happy with the progress I've made and will soon post pics!.

Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a wonderful and Blessed Thanksgiving.
I'm making dinner but the only turkey in my house is my hubby and MIL- neither one of them like turkey, so I'm making a pork shoulder instead. How you asked? Being Cuban, I'm roastng it in the oven.. pictures and details to follow....

I'm ready with money in hand to head off to Michaels @ 5 pm- I want quarter note, nothing else.
I'll hit Walmart tonight @ midnight to pick up some of the lite carts I want and I'll be well stocked in my carts.

Got to return to what I was working on- again Have a great Holiday!

WHEW! has it been a crazy two weeks!
Hubby's cousin had a baby shower yesterday and you know the overachiever that I am I HAD to make a 12x12 scrapbook album AND a 6x6 album.
She's having a girl and since my favorite color is PINK I went crazy, lol. Yes I couldn't help myself....
I made both albums out of acid free chipboard and used alot of vintage papers. Vintage papers you ask?
Well those of us that have been scrapbooking for a while know that papers lines have gotten discontinued or they retire patterns so I have stuff from 2000 and I've used my stash in these albums. I like to call it vintage- there I'm the first one to coin that phrase for OLD scrapbook products, lol.
You'll see it'll catch on- everything old is new again....

Just 2 4x6 photos each month is all the busy mom will need to keep the book current.

Hi everyone!

It's been crazy the last couple of weeks. I've been working on making some changes and well, it's consumed my every free moment, which is not much since I work full-time, lol.

I decided to try to sell some of my work. It's something I've always wanted to do but never had the courage.
However I've been thinking a lot about where I was in my life and felt like I am at a fork in the road and decided that I need to make some changes. I love to create. I love to share my creations and I love to share my love of scrapbooking. So I'm venturing out. I'm just trying to figure out how I can get everything done with the limited time I have, lol. You know sleep is definitely over-rated, lol.

Sprucing Up the Old Bloggeroo

I've gone through this blog and changed a few things. The background (Fall theme) and updated the sites I have on the right side. Some links no longer worked and others had a long period of inactivity so off they went.

I've also been scouring the web for new info and I found a couple.
If you haven't heard the Bazzill 100 pc pack sold @ michaels for $29.99 is on CLEARANCE for $7.99 that makes it down to about .7 cents a sheet! Grab some while you can!

If you like sketches and Becky Fleck She's come out with a 2nd book Scrapbook Pagemaps 2. I really liked her first book so I'm putting this on my Christmas/Birthday list. Another little treasure I found is a FREE Ezine called Scrapbook and Cards Today and the Editor and Chief is Becky Fleck. Nice thing is that it's FREE. You can either view it on the site or download a PDF file- pretty cool!
I'm in the process of dowloading the past issues so I can read them in my spare time (yeah right). Maybe I'll print them out and take them with me to Dr's Appointments. Much more interesting than magazines telling me who the Bachelor is with this week, lol.

It seems that I've been in Michaels several times this past week. Honestly they should have Concierge Service. Wouldn't it be nice to place an order via the web and then just go pick it up? Hmm, I maybe onto something.....
I was there on Saturday and used Joann's 50% off coupon plus the 20% off everything coupon and I bought the Martha Stewart Iron Gate Border Punch.. I figure I can use it alot by cutting off the bats. I just wish Cricut would make borders like these or start to include borders into their carts in general. Cart about blow fishes? Add a blow fish border, lol.
I also took advantage and bought crochet thread for MIL- she LOVES to crochet. She's 82 and this keeps her entertained. Anything to keep her entertained and happy, lol. I finally bought an easle to use when I take pics of my creations. Got some of that $1.00 glitter glue for Christmas Cards and picked up some odd and ends for the projects I'm working on. I wanted another Tim Holtz border die, but they were all out.

I get an email from Michaels, Hobby Lobby and AC Moore. Yeah I know there are no ACM in the south west but I like to drool. They have the best sales and boy do I miss them!

This week Michaels has the usual 40% coupon, Hobby Lobby has a 25% coupon. Hmm, what's up with that?
The only thing I saw that was good at HL was their single sheet papers including cardstock is 50% off. I'm running low on Orange (you think?) so I'll go get some cardstock.

I'm going back to my projects. I wanted a break from paper piecing pumpkins (say that 10 times) and now it's time to go back to them. I'll try to blog again soon!

Eye Candy

Whew!

I finally finished a couple of the projects I've been working on!
Like I said in an earlier post, I've gone down the rabbit hole and I was having so much fun that I couldn't stop embellishing the projects, lol.

Now It's actually taken me longer to get the pics together to post than making the actual project, lol.
I was playing in PSE trying to create a water mark and well that went hay wire. After reading some info on the next I figured out how to create the copyright symbol. Click Alt 0169 and use the keypad-but not all fonts have the copyright symbol, as I learned an hour into this. Ugh why can't things go smoother, lol.

I've been working my Cricut Expression VERY Hard the past couple of weeks- making up for all the time it just sat there. I have to say that between Design Studio and the Expression, it's made these projects pretty easy.
I just have to take it to the next level and embellish everything to death, lol.

One thing of having alot of tools is when you're ready to work you have everything on hand.
I've used my cropadile, bind it all, ATG, The corner chomper, all things I've had and had not used before.
My husband thinks I'm crazy but there's a method to my madness, lol.
when I sit down to tackle a project, I want to have everything on hand. Most of the time I do.

I've posted pics of 3 mini books I've made. Two are Halloween related and One is Thanksgiving related.
I used the Happy Hauntings, Pumpkin Carvings, October 31st, A Child's Year and Celebrations with flourish, and TBBM through out.
Let me tell you I'm so glad I have design studio it was the only way to keep all the colors, cuts straight. I don't know what people do without the software. I must have made over 75 cuts and to keep it all straight especially when you want to layer in different colors is not easy.
Plus I grouped everything by color so I saved time and paper.

In the body of this post there's a couple of pictures but if you look at my slide folder on the right side you can click on there and see all the pages. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

The first three pics is a paper bag album I call "Beware".

I cut the shape of the cover freehand, used crackle medium to pain it and then used Martha Stewart's Drippy goo punch to put the "shingles". I love the way it came out!

I made this album for a good friend of mine who LOVES Halloween.
I know she'll just love all the tags and pull out photomats.

The next project is a mini chipboard album that I call Skull. The skeleton's head was cut out of the October 31st cart and I backed it with chipboard. I stamped his skull just for visual interest.

I had alot of fun making this one. There are mini pages cut out of the top notch die and one of the Tim Holtz border dies. LOVE, LOVE those border dies plan to get more. Why use that instead of the cricut? I have heavier chipboard that won't cut through the cricut and one must use what's on hand, lol.

I also did alot of stamping in this book. I'm in love with the Basic Grey's Halloween stamps from last year. I'm glad I was able to find them really cheap on Ebay!.

The last project is called "Giving Thanks".
I love love autumn, all the fall colors so I really enjoy making this one. I gave this book to my friend Jennifer, a fellow scrapper for her Birthday. It's lumpy and Bumpy and I loved the way it came out.

I used Cuttlebug embossing folders for the mats and shrinky dink for charms. I first stamped them colored them in with andorondack inks markers and then shrunk them down to size. Oh don't forget to punch a hole if you plan to dangle them before you shrink them!

I also made charms for the 2 Halloween books. A lot of them I stamped or cut out simple outline shapes with the cricut.

Tid Bits

A little bit of this...a little bit of that....

I'm still working on my project, um projects.
YES what turned out to be 1 project has turned into SEVERAL projects, lol. So down the rabbit hole I go!
I also wanted to add more details so I've been waiting on some stamps I bought off of Ebay and Overstock.com- they finally arrived today!

Looking at the message board I found out about an article that mentioned Michaels treatment of employees- makes you go hmmmm.... It won't stop me from shopping there but this article sure does give them a black eye. Unfortunately this is not an isolated case. This happens a lot in Corporate America. We as workers, have to just realize our rights and not be intimidated.

I'm making this post brief because I now have a deadline, one of my sweet friends is having a birthday I want to give her one of the books I'm working on. It must be ready by Friday.. so off to work I go!!!

One of the jewels that has come to light recently is Cricut Search.com. What an ingenious tool!
You're looking for a bat and instead of looking through every possible cart of using DS or asking on the cricut board waiting for an answer, you go onto the site type in Bat and there you go! It lists not only the cart but the page of the book! Totally cool!

If you haven't visited Cricut.com lately there's a new community board. It was launched last Friday and the old one will become read only as of October 1st. Check it out- runs way faster than the old board!

If anyone is interested in getting published submissions are being taken for the new Cricut Magazine that is suppose to launch early next year. I like the idea of a cricut magazine and can't wait to see what they have in store.

I've finished one of my porjects and I'm waiting to get a mini easel from Hobby Lobby to take pics of it. I keep forgetting when I go there- mind you was there 3 times this week! Perhaps I should try Michaels I have a 40% coupon burning a hole in my pocket, lol.

It's time for me to get back to my projects.. I just wanted to stop in and say I'm still around!

Great Scrapping Day...

Yesterday was a 24 Hr craft day on HSN.

I watched most of the day- NO I didn't buy anything all though I was tempted.
They debuted Cricut's Imagine and many other things. Tim Holtz, Anna Griffin were among those that were showcased and it was just fun to watch the crafting. It reminded me of the good o'l days on QVC.
There's one thing that I saw for the first time that I now want. We are Memory Keeper's Brad Setter. I saw it being used on HSN and now I want one. I can't tell you how many times I stabbed myself with brads- especially the tiny ones..... I haven't seen in the stores yet, but I rather buy it somewhere else. !1st of all HSN has it for 19.00 cause they added brads and it's purple. The retail one is pink- which I adore and around 7.00- much better price and I have brads galore- don't need anymore! Here's a video showing how it works:

I'm excited that my project is coming together like I imagined it would. There's alot of details I want to add so, I'm taking my sweet time making it, but I promise I'll post it as soon as I'm done.

Off to sip some coffee and work on my project!

Whew Have I been busy scrapping!
I'm happy that my creative juices are flowing again!
It seems that when the weather cools down a bit, I decide it's time to play!

I'm working on a terrific project. I won't reveal it's contents yet, but I'm excited. I'm using my cricut to its fullest and exploring new carts. Sad to say but this is the first time I'm actually using a cart to it's full potential. I'm also using DS and it helps with cutting all the pieces in the different colors I need at once. Note: do save your work as you go along or else you'll be crying like I was last night AFTER MY COMPUTER SHUT ITSELF DOWN and I lost everything I had worked on because I didn't save it. Yeah I wanted to gnaw on my own leg after that....

It was like Christmas here this week. I got my package from Creative Express. Also some things I ordered from Ebay and not to mention I found some great paper at Michaels in a town about 20 mins away. YES there's a Michael's 5 minutes from me but they have NOTHING that I want.

I've been surfing the web for the past few days, day dreaming of being filthy rich and buying all the stuff I want without a care in the world, lol. Since that's not my reality, I'm just virtual window shopping...

I'm in love with a line that I just discovered- Graphic 45. I love love love vintage, shabby looking papers and these people are amazing! I love the Alice in wonderland that they came out with for Halloween. I loved that book as a kid. They've used the original illustrations and doctored it up for Halloween- pretty cool!

I've also discovered My M ind's Eye Spiderweb at the Michael's that 20 minutes away. Halloween is not my forte, but I do like the vintage papers this line has. I know this was made for 2009 but hey, like I've said before I'm a bit behind. Besides it's new to me. If you like that look check out MME Haunted made for 2010.....Really sophisticated, if you can call Halloween that....

I also picked up the Martha Stewart spiderweb punch. It's a great way to finish an edge. They now have larger ones to make borders, but I want to see if I can figure making one in my cricut- cheaper and easier on the hands. Even the lever type punches bother my hands.

In my travels I found out the Sandy Genovese has an site featuring updated videos of projects she's made. I've watched a few and the only thing that bothers me is that she wears alot of green. Someone must have told her the color looked good on her or something......

I'm going back to my cricut cutting now. I want to finish planning everything in DS tonight and then cut everything tomorrow. I leave you with a great video showing off the Halloween in Wonderland papers....

9/11 Nine years later......

I can't believe 9 years have passed since that awful day.
It's still something that saddens me. Hubby reneted a 9/11 themed movie (without realizing the date) and watched it last night with MIL- without me. I still have'nt watched any of the movies that are out re 9/11. I just can't.

Today's post is for remembrance to the families of those who dies that day and since in the wars that we've been fighting. God be with our soldiers and their families and may He put a protective covering over them.

The official end of summer except Texas hasn't gotten the memo-still hot here. The triple digit weather is gone thank God, but it's gonna be in the 90's today, which is tolerable believe it or not, lol.

Labor Day weekend also means shopping and specials. I found a great one @ creative express.
The have some older cricut carts for only 15.00! I was able to get destinations, places to go, winnie the pooh and winnie the pooh font, hello kitty font and black letter. I also picked up the 12 inch cuttlebug embossing folders and the advent calendar that I didn't get last year- love that thing! lastly, picked up some stickles colors I'm low on.

I also ordered Serenade off of Ebay. Can't wait til I get that one I just love the images!
Last I used my Walmart Gift card and picked up cherry limeaide, lovely floral and celebrate with flourish. I tried to find the carts less than 39.00 like others have but my walmart doesn't know the meaning of markdowns.

I have a 50% coupon for Michaels and I may go look to see what they have. Last week i was in there and there was nothing I really liked except for some tim holtz stamps. I'd rather have the embossing folders, but my M's doesn't have them, only Holly Lobby and they won't take the Michael's coupons.

I've been limping since Friday. I was walking to my desk at work when all of the sudden I got a sharp pain on my left hip. I figuered it would go away, but it hasn't It radiates down to my knee. So I've been wearing lidocaine patches on my back hoping that I feel better by tomorrow.

I ended up getting a refill for the ATG gun at Michaels with my 50% coupon. Yeah nothing else tickled my fancy, lol.
Although, I may go back for some 8 1/2x11 paper packs that are 30% off making them about 2.75 a piece. Also I'm working on a gift paper bag album and realized that I'm running out of crackle medium. Oh let's see what I'll do this week......

Tim Holtz has some wonderful new goodies this year. One of them is his motorized sizzix machine, Vagabond.
It's cute! looks like a vintage suitcase. This is something I personally won't get but I do love the idea of a motorized Sizzix machine. 249.99 is MSRP a little steep for me. I'll just have to use my big shot and crank away, lol.

It's amazing to me that even though I have a cricut expression, I still love some of those sizzix dies.

Ode to Basic Grey

Few paper lines make me happy like Basic Grey.
There are few collections that they've come out with that I haven't immediately fallen in love with.
since I've been out of touch with their latest I've looked around and drooled at all their latest.
Here's some of the ones they've come out with.
Indian summer
Green at heart.
Kioshi looks so pretty!
I'm loving the new kids ones and the one called Max and Whiskers for us pet lovers!

I'm also loving the Kraft, Whites and Manila. It's great to have tone on tone choices.

and as they've done the past few years, they've come out with a Christmas line called jovial. I have to admit that
I'm not sure if I like it.

I think I'll have to see it in person to make up my mind.

Of all the new collections the one that made me hold my breath is Capella. It's cream and green and browns just calls my name, lol. That one collection I'll be out on the hunt for.....

Hubby is back!

I'm so happy! My stress level has been on overload with MIL, the job so much so that it's affected my health. Asthma is kicking in. Ugh..

But soon things will be back to normal. Also the weather is slowly getting better.. in the 90's now instead of triple digit, lol. I still say thank you God for giving man the knowledge to invent air conditioning....

On the scrapbooking front, I'm now the proud owner of Oct 31st and Pumpkin Carvings. I love it for the pumpkins. I also got happy hauntings off of ebay hoping to get it by next week. Ebay is the way to go for the most part, as long as you trust who you're buying from. I usually stick to Proudparents, MemoryMiser and Oh My Crafts. Also I refuse to pay for shipping.

I can't wait for what is deemed her to be fall so I can use these carts!

I got a 100.00 gift card from work for Wally's world and would like to buy some of the Cricut lite carts.
However people keep posting o the cricut message board that they're seeing the carts for 10.00 bucks... I tried not here they're still 39.00 each. I'll try another Walmart this weekend and if not, then I'll have to settle paying 39.00 for each with the gift card.

In my on line travels I love finding some interesting things... one is the following video. how to make your own glue dots by A Pink Cricut. It's something I'm going to try after all I have the glue already, lol.

Another thing I found is that Costco is carrying a special bundle for the expression. If you live near one the cities that has them It's great- I don't. I tried to paste a copy of the page but could get it to work so click on the link for more info.

I'm having fun catching up to the scrapbooking world

So the weekend's begun!

This weekend is my MIL's birthday. She's turning 82 yrs young. Feisty little lady too, lol.
We went today to Joann's and I got her some crochet thread- she loves to crochet.
Of course I picked up something for moi too.

The Cricut carts are on sale for 39.99 for the full size and 19.99 for the solutions until Saturday.
I picked up the Summer in Paris Solution cart. Pretty cuts on that one. Now I'm on the hunt for the Happy Hauntings. I found out it has a font and I'm a font collector.

Hubby is going out of town which means it's MIL & I for about 10 days. Although I work during the day, we did get a sweet friend from church to stay with her.

I'm looking for an inexpensive storage idea for the solution carts. For now I'm still using the plastic casing they come in. I just cut two sides of it and slide the carts in an out. I've read of people using the baby wipes containers but I wanted something a little different.
I went to the Container Store, but nothing's caught my eye.

So on the hunt I'll be, lol....

no..no I don't mean digital scrapbooking...
much more than that... more than I could've imagined... not that it takes much for me to wander off....
ok back to the topic at hand...

Many probably know about the Gypsy.
Even I who have been living under a proverbial rock for the past few months knows about the portable design device by Cricut. If you're not familiar take a gander here.
Sizzix has come out with the Eclips:

It's nice to have the sizzix design in a cut out format.
Quickutz has the silhouette, making memories the slice, Xyron has the wishblade, there's the Pazzle and frankly I can't remember all the others, lol.
Now Cricut has come out with the Imagine- which lets you cut out colored die cuts.

It seems that our hurry up life style has leaked into our crafting/hobbies and so more and more "automated" items are coming out to help us scrap more in less time.
I have mixed feeling about. In one hand it's great to have tools to help us get more done, in the other hand i find scrapbooking to be my "therapy" so I don't want to hurry up and finish, I like to take my sweet time...

I'm sure there's more but I'll end it here now.
I'll keep an eye out on more goodies......

2 days down and 3 more to go til the weekend!

It's been crazy busy at work and I relish coming home and sitting in my clean scrap studio.
Yeah clean. I have a list of things i want to work on, but for now i just want to enjoy the room the way it is.
It's so nice.

I don't know if I've mentioned how much I love the cuttlebug embossing folders. I mean love them. It's such an easy way to get texture on a piece of cardstock, especially for small projects like cards.
So I own a slew of them. Yep why do anything half way, lol. Well I'm eyeing more.
Sizzix and Quikutz have come out with their own versions. I picked up a couple of the Tim Holtz's folders made by sizzix. I bought the bingo card and king type folders.

Geez it's hot here.

It's been over 15 days STRAIGHT of triple digit weather and I've had enough.
I want this heat to break. the weather man says we're going down into the 90's next week. 90's like that's suppose to make a difference? Ugh

I've posted on here that fall is my favorite time of year. I miss it alot living in Texas. the trees don't really turn in late September/October. Usually like late November and not all trees turn. It's not like the beautiful landscape that you see up and down the East Coast. I think I'll make my vacation next year during Autumn so I can experience the leaves turning again....

That being said I love pumpkins and leaves on stamps. I love to collect pumpkins.. don't know why and I just love the hues of orange, brown yellow, green during the fall. I went to Joann's yesterday and couldn't resist the new Inkadinkado fall stamps. They are clear stamps and just beautiful. I got the following sets the one with the cat is called Fall Fields. The one with all kinds of pumpkins is called Pumpkins and Flourish and the one with the tree and leaves is called Mindscape Fall. I was able to get them at 40% off so about 5.99 each set. Just love them and can't wait to use them.

There's some great Halloween ones if you like to decorate for it. I personally don't celebrate Halloween, but a dear friend of mine does and I know she'd go ga-ga for the Halloween ones.
joanns also had a sale on alltheir papers 40% off along with Cricut cartridges for 33.99 and 19.99 for the solutions. I was tempted, but I stayed away from the paper and the solutions carts will still be 19.99 next week...so I'll wait.

DCWV has some cute autumn theme paper along with Halloween paper. They're both on sale at Joanns.com.
there's also another stack I'll end up getting which is the linen closet- love the blues and cremes in that one.

So the creative juices are starting to flow again. But first I must clean my scrap studio.
The poor room has been pretty much abandoned for months.
I spent the day throw papers and throwing tons of magazines away
It's amazing how much I've collected.
My desk is somewhat cleared. Still have a few Items to put away. I'm one who can't start something 'til my work space is clean.

That's all I have to say.
I've stopped scrapping/crafting in the past few months and have had A lot of changes in my life.
Physically I've lost 118 lbs down from a size 24 to a size 6 (yay!)
I've become somewhat of a clothes diva. Love shopping! I've had to replace everything- even my shoes, lol. My feet went from a size 9 1/2 to a 9 sometimes 8 1/2.
I have a new wardrobe and I'm loving my smaller size!

My poor scrap studio has been pretty much abandoned, but that's about to change.
I'm inspired to start my crafting again. Not only for the creativity part, but for the calming therapeutic factor. I have some stressors in my life that I can't change right now, so I have to find an outlet. creating has always been a good one for me.

I"ve stayed away from the boards the past few months, so I'm a little behind on the latest and the greatest. I have to say even Michaels and Hobby Lobby hasn't seen much of my money, lol.
however, I did go home last month and visited AC Moore and got some goodies!

I did visit Joanns today and salivated over all the new stuff. Paper packs from Die Cuts with a View, Embossing folders from Sizzix to coordinate with Tim Holtz and Basic Grey Christmas papers. I love embossing folders so this is exciting to me.

Cricut have come out with some new carts and I can't wait to get them. I also recently learned that the rewards point you get with the new carts may count toward getting a gypsy- if so I'm saving mine for that. I now have over 1800 and a gypsy is about 4000 points. yeah i have a ways to go but they don't expire, lol. I'd rather spend my money on getting new carts rather than buy the gypsy.

Well it's confirmed- reading the cricut.com board can be dangerous, lol.
I found out that Scotch has come out with a pink ATG gun for Sue B. Komen and Michaels is carrying it. Oh man Pink.
I've wanted an ATG gun for a while now, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Well, I've looked for over a week at three different stores and finally yesteday found it at the michael's closest to me. I was able to use a 40% coupon so it cost me a little over 22.00-much better than the 50.00 that the original one goes for. Besides this one is pink.

The ATG is a great adhesive to have you get 72 yards to a roll so it lasts you actually get more for your money. I've currently been using the Hermafix tabs and dots forever. It was great, but they've changed the formula and it just doesn't stick as well as it use to. Besides it's more expensive than this ATG gun.

I'm cleaning my room tomorrow and hope to post for info on the new items I've found... until then....

I've reached a milestone of having lost 100 lbs!
It's so exciting to go from a size 24 pant to a size 12!
What a journey!
Still have a little bit to go, but It's wonderful to be here at 8 months after surgery!

On the scrapbooking home front, CHA has taken place and there's some great stuff coming out.

Yes I'm a bad blogger. but with good reasons... I've been very crafty lately and have been trying to get to every project I have on my list.

On my weight loss journey, I've lost a total of 92 lbs so far! I have to say 2009 was a great year! I'm excited to see what 2010 has for me!

...and I love the cooler weather.
It's be much cooler in North Texas than last year and that's okay by me.
Love sweater weather.

I've been doing a little shopping at Michaels and on line. I should say I was at Joann's last week and took advantage of their paper sale 4/95 cents. I was able to get distressed stickles on clearance at Michaels for 2.99 a pack! Also I've been eyeing the Mi Casa paper by DCWV and picked that up. Will get the solids soon- love when things coordinate. Fall ribbons were on sale and I thouht many of the colors matched the Mi Casa Papers. last I picked up the MME Fall paper pack-just love it!

I also took advantage and bought some Cricut Cartridges on line. Also redeemed some of my rewards and got George. My little collection is growing. I got the everyday paper dolls (which i said i have no need for when I saw the Bug Junkie's creation- it's beautiful!

Yesterday at work there was a drawing and I won a digital camera! Cool! it's tiny enough to fit in my pocket.
I don't have one that small so that's nice. I'm charging it right now...

This post is short and sweet. I'm watching the world series, rooting for the yankees! Until I post again!

The Power of Cuteness

I admit that I can't resist it.
If it's cute and I can go for it. I do.
after a month or so since I last went to Michael's I went there yesterday. Low and behold I spotted the pink display. Anyone who's read this blog for a while knows that my favorite color is pink. I gravitated toward the display and spotted the cute Xyron sticker maker in the shape of a Pink Ribbon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Yeah I already own the Xyron "x" 150, but the power of cuteness took over...

I also went to Joanns. They have a great paper sale 5/95 cents this week. I stocked up on the cardstock. I need to work on a special project soon so stocked up on some specific color.

I bought a couple of Cricut Cartridges this week. Christmas Cheer and Sweethearts. Michael's has cartridges for 44.99. I didn't buy mine there but on ebay.
I'm also on pre order for two of the limited editions cartridges. they're suppose to be shipped in November.....

I was asked by a co-worker to create a homecoming garter for her daughter. You can look at this post to read about this Texas tradition. The girl gives a smaller version of a mum to the guy she's going to homecoming with. That's what I created. I have to say that I think my version came out cute.

Moutainous Views

Today we went to the center of the island. We went up the mountains, on winding curvy roads to Utuado. The views were amazing. It's cooler up there of course and it was great to see DH's niece again. I sure have a lot of pics to pick through and scrap-about 250!
Good thing winkflash has their 6 cents a pic sale. I'm going to take advantage of that!
Tomorrow we head home....

For those that are not aware, Puerto Rico was supposedly carved out of volcanic rock and therefore is very mountainous and hilly. Houses are on the edge of cliffs and there's very little flat land. This makes for some great views.

One of the great things of Puerto Rico is the variety of places to eat. One that seems to be popular are the street vendors. They have trucks, make shift carts, tables on the road, etc.
They have sandwiches, shish-kabobs, full plates of food. They tend to have really tasty food.

We've stopped at a couple of these make shift eateries and the food is good.

Beautiful Scenery

Puerto Rico is crowded, the roads are narrow and in some areas way too built up, but besides that the scenery can be breath taking. There still pockets of beauty among the growing houses and building perched on top of cliff and hill tops. I just love it.

I took these pics across the way from one of DH's aunt house.
Very quiet and very country. A little too far from the stores for me.

We've been visiting family which is ok. I'd rather be site seeing. Hopefully we'll get to do a little perhas in the middle of the week.

Church today and more family. DH's family is enormous and I'm still meeting cousins for the first time.

The weather has been unseasonable warm. No down right HOT. I forgot how humid it gets here.
So although I lugged my blow dryer to PR, I haven't used it at all, lol.

I'm going to change into my shorts and t shirt and get readt to go out again!

We're in Puerto Rico!

This is my second trip here and it's great to be in the Caribbean again! The weather is hot and sticky (no air conditioning in DH's Cousin's house) but all is good.
I like to see the palm trees, and eat the local food, so similar to the Cuban style food I grew up on and still cook.

Hopefully the weather will behave and I can go to the beach. I did n't visit the beach the laat time I was here in 2004. A lot of site seeing, but no beach.

The camera is ready, batteries charges and I can't wait to get more pics for my ever growing collection, lol.

Dh is out getting me something to eat, which is scary. After all I just can't eat anything he brings so we'll see. Good thing I brought my protein shakes so all I need is some milk to mix it all.
This is going to be a challenge, being out my comfort zone with food. But the reality is that this is part of life and I have learn to deal with fact that I can't control evcery single thging I put in my mouth.

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in a long time!
It's been a whirl wind couple of months and I'm trying to find my new routine.
My life has changed since I had the surgery. I haven't scrapped at all (gasp!) in the past few months and I have alot to do. Gift albums and catching up with my own pics. There are projects piled up on my desk calling my name....

It's now fall in Tx and it's actually cool. Yes we're out of the triple digit weather which is nice. It's sweater weather and I'm loving it. Especially since I've lost 73 lbs so far! I've gone from a size 24 to a size 16! I'm not done yet but loving the fact that I get to shop in the missy sizes!

Although I haven't been scrapping, I have been trying to keep up with the latest news in the scrapping world. I've read that
Becky Higgins is no more at CK,
Simple Scrapbooks is gone
Scenic Route is shutting their doors
American Crafts have taken over Pebbles, inc.
CK media sold
Melissa Inman leaving Scrapbook, Etc
Memory Makes is gone...
and so much more.

What will become with our hobby? I feel it'll be leaner in the sense of products, magazines, books. But it won't be gone. The economy may have affected a lot, but it'll bounce back. Perhaps not as big as it's been, but definitely it'll still be there.

There is a lot new stuff out there and Cricut has come out with some fabulous new cartridges! I've ordered two that are limited edition and can't wait to use them!

Hi I'm Back!

It's been a while I know!

This is a short post, so much has been going on.
I did have the gastric bypass on may 6th and have lost 42 lbs so far.
My recovery went well and I'm cleared to eat anything, just in small amounts. I usually weigh my food and don't eat more than 2 0z at a time. I feel great and joined a gym today so I'm hoping that'll speed up my weight loss.

We just got back from vacay this past Saturday. We went home! It was wonderful to be on the East Coast again. Visiting friends & family, going down the shore. The entire time we were there the weather was wonderful- in the 80's and low humidity.

I sighed deeply as the plane took off from Newark Airport.

That's it for now, I just wanted to post a few words. I have plenty of pics and I'm ready to scrapbook again. I haven't made anything since before the surgery so have to get my butt into gear.

Changes

When the year began, I decided to make 2009 the year for some major changes.
One thing on my list is my weight. I've been over weight since about 1990 and right now I'm at my highest weight.
because of my weight, I've developed sleep apnea, toms of aches and pains, my blood pressure is border line and my asthma has gotten worst. I've known for a while that I had to do something. I finally did.
I've decided to have weight loss surgery.

I thought about this for a while and decided that I had to do something drastic.
I've tried everything, including hiring a trainer at a gym and nothing was good enough. So on Wednesday May 6th, I'll have Gastric-bypass done.
today I went to the surgeon's office for a 4 hr seminar to explain what will happen after the surgery and what foods to eat immediately after.
I also went to the hospital for pre admission testing, so I'm ready.
I'll post some details of this journey, but I don't want this to become a weight loss blog. I'll post pics of my progress once I have some significant weight loss.

I worked in my scrapbook room this weekend. I installed the scanner and scanned a bunch of layouts, but when I saved them they saved as bitmap and I couldn't merge the pieces together. I have to scan them all over again so I can save them as jpeg.UGH!

Joanne has their paper on sale too. So it's a good time to stock up on the basics.

I picked up a new cricut cart, Caligraphy Collection. I love the fonts on there.
Now I want to sell my quickutz fonts. Why go manual when I can use the cricut and cut any size I need?

Craft Day

It's the 3rd Wednesday which means craft night with the church kids. It's a small group and we meet at one of the parent's house.

I shook the dust off an old craft for tonight-
Shrinky Dinks.

I put the plastic sheet through the cricut and made crosses in honor of Easter.
I had to use the multi cut w/ the deep blade to cut them out.
I used a Hero Arts background ground stamp to stamp the crosses and used Stazon ink.
I did my sample with Adirondack ink pens to color and I loved the way it came out.

The kids loved the project as well!

I was surfing the internet and found out that you can use plastic food containers that have the recycle code 6 PC to do the same thing. Hey I wish I knew that before I spent 7.00 for a pack of 6 sheets. I'm now collecting these plastic containers....

Until recently, Michael's would not price match competitor's sales, but I guess the economy is hitting their pockets. I've read on the cricut to try it with the sale Joann's has on this weekend. joann's has cricut cartridges for 39.99. So I went tonight and was able to buy Lyrical and Life's a beach at 39.99 each! I had a 60.00 gift card so I only spent 26.00 out of pocket! I'm so glad I waited to by them!

We got a little surprize this week on Verizon fios Tv added YES the Yankees Entertainment & Sports Network to our line up- hooray! I can finally watch my favorite team again!
DH & I love watching the games together.

I smell smoke?

When I got out of work today, it smelled like a giant BBQ party.
The sky was grey and little bits of ashes all over the car.
When I got home I watched the news. Apparently the smoke is coming from parts of North Texas and Oklahoma. The ground's so dry that in right conditions wild fires have started. It's not even close to us yet we're feeling the effects because of the winds.

Recently, in my vegetative state of sheer laziness, I've been watch HSN and QVC.
UGH! I can't watch this without wanting to buy something. So I ended up buying a few household thing.
From HSN I bought microfiber clothes 40 for 25.10 shipping included. That's 63 cents a piece! Cheaper than any dollar store! These cloths are wonderful. I've used them in cleaning my glass top stove, the inside of the microwave, the counters the sink. Everything looks great. You can wash them up to 500 times (each one!) I've already washed a few no need to Clorox nor fabric softener!.
I highly recommend them!

Oh just in case you need a great product to clean stove tops and other surfaces, try Cerama-bryte. I found out about this product when I got a sample with my new stove.
It's wonderful. Works great on the self cleaning oven doors and glass that get really dirty but doesn't get clean when you self clean the oven. The cleaning pad they recommend are not needed with the duracloths I just got.

I usually buy it at home-depot but they're stating on their website you can bet it at bed bath and beyond or walmart!

I also bought an outdoor monogrammed mat for our front door. I liked that has the monogram. It's weather proof which is great. ! I'll be cleaning the outside and hopefully clean out my beds this weekend and I'll sport my new mat!

We've been very busy!
I'm sorry I haven't posted but I come home from work and vegetate on the nights we have nothing to do.
I just haven't had any desire to do anything lately!

The weather here is still very unpredictable. One day it's warm, next day down to freezing. I started planting some annuals and the poor things look pitiful. I have more to put in the ground. I'll do that Saturday, hopefully.

I was on the Cricut Message Board and was reading a thread about the Life's a beach cartridge. It seems that Provo Craft sent out the pics prematurely and did not include the last road of the cut out words. You can see what images were left off from my post. I'm not too disappointed, but PC should have waited on sending out the images to retailers until they were sure of what they were going to include in the cartridge. Just another example of poor customer service.

Now I haven't scrapped in a month, yes shameful! but dh & I have been busy most evenings the past month. My week nights should free up soon, and hopefully I can get back to my scrapping.
I found out that two people that come to our house on Wednesday nights for Bible Study love scrapbooking! So we're going to try to get together soon for a crop in my house. YES, I said I wouldn't do it again, but I'll try one more time. I'd love to have people to scrap with.

One last tid bit re new scrapping products. We are memoriy keepers came out with a new tool to make corners round. It's called the Crop-a-Dile Corner Chopmper. It'll go through chipboard, leather, acrylic and other hard surfaces. It'll do both 1/4 and 1/8 corners. I'll wait to see the reviews and if it shows up at hobby lobby I may buy it. It's MSRP is 24.99 so with a 40% coupon it'll be worth it. Yes I have the corner rounder made by Zutter, but this one has both sizes in one tool and the comfort grip handles seem to be much easier on the hands.

Wow has it been cold here today!

Which made it very hard to be out early for Convoy of Hope- but we were there! the temperature was in the 30's with a windchill factor that made it feel like the 20's and teens!
Good thing I know what a cold spell is. I layered, wore a hat, scarf and gloves. I made sure I ad moisturizer and lip balm to protect against the wind.
I was amazed how many people didn't prepare! That's one thing here in North Texas a lot of people don't wear coats. I guess because the bitter cold of today is infrequent.
Not me I have my heavy coat from Jersey and boy was I glad today to have it.
We had the different media outlets know of the event. Radio, Paper and TV. NBC News was there.

In this world were everyone only worries about themselves, it's nice to stop and care for those that may have very little. More thank once I was touched by the way volunteers treated the guests. It's something that I'll carry forever in my heart.

Renee Pearson's latest book has been shelved for good. Her latest book was about Adobe Elements. I was looking forward to this book since I use elements and I like her books.

If you have been thinking of thinking of learning digi scrapping try to find the other books renee have out- and do it soon. It's obvious that CK won't be publishing any more copies, at least for the near future.

.... and another crazy week begins.

We're gonna be very busy this week. Appointments and this coming Saturday our church is participating in Convoy of Hope here in North Texas. DH & I are voluteering. They expect 2000-3000 to come to the event!

I just recently got caught up on some blogs I subscribe to and I found out that Renee Zellweger is in a movie call New In Town and there are scrapbooking scenes in it!

Plays an avid scrapbooker in the movie. You know I've got to see this, lol. I'll keep my eye out for it when it hits DVD
market. DH will not go see this!

...the top notch die by sizzix. It's sold exclusively thru stampin-up. Well worth getting in for mini albums or journaling box. Or cutting pics into this shape.
I bought this die about a month ago and decided to use it for the kid's craft night this week. I cut out not only chipboard but white cardstock. I'm going to have them make a mini book of things they are thankful for.
I really love my Cricut, but I still love the fact I can cut dies through a sizzix. I have tons of chipboard that too thick to cut through the cricut so I'll keep the sizzix for that.

I mentioned last week that I had to clean out my desk top computer and I did this past weekend. I haven't loaded all my software back in. But I did try to load the cricut design studio again. UGH. Provo Craft allows you to only upload the software once to computer with the access that's in the box. I had to call PC to get access again. This is insane. Large companies like Adobe whose programs are more valuable don't do this. Also you can't use it on Vista 64bit, go figure.
Supposedly PC is coming out with new software this summer, I hope they adress these problems. After a 20 minute wait, I got the code and I was able to install the software again to my pc.

Cricut is coming out with new cartridges- I really like both. Especially the beach one!
I won't get these for a while, unless it shows up on walmart(where I can use gift cards) because these babies are going for over 80.00 each. Too rich for my blood.

I'm watching the Baseball Classic game between USA and Puerto Rico. So far PR is ahead 4-3 but I'm sure the USA will beat them. They are a better team, lol. Dh is talking trash though, lol. I let him be. I know who's better.

UPDATE: USA did indeed BEAT Puerto Rico and DH was snoring on the lounge chair and missed the whole thing.

I did wake him up when the US sealed the deal, lol.
Was he stunned.

Last to all my Irish Friends, Happy St. Pat's Day. I wore my green. Hey I went to an Irish school St. Patricks for high school and wore green 4 yrs, so Erin go Brag h!

Too much.....

....just busy with life. The job making me work overtime, ugh.
I come home tired and no desire to do a thing. Not to mention my foot is hurting again. It seems that the cortisone shot has worn off.

This feeling of malaise has also slowed down my scrapping.
I'm thinking of attending an all day crop next week just to get out and revive my scrapping.
I have to call the LSS to see if there's room.

My desk top computer has got some crazy virus. It's starting to slow down and if I try to surf the Internet it shuts down, closes my security software. I'm slowly taking things off the hard drives so I can set it back to factory settings.

I was told it was good to do that once and a while. I just hate the idea of having to load all the software again!

The weather here has been pretty good lately. We've has a couple of 80 degree days.
Nice.
But it's suppose to change by the end of this week, back to the 50's and rain. We need rain. It doesn't rain here often.

I went to one of ny favorite eateries here, Jason's Deli last Friday. They are not in NJ, not yet , but I saw a sign there that they will be opening one in Moorestown, NJ.
If you like organic, and some great sandwiches and soups go visit. I love thier turkey wraps with fruit and their "dip" for the fruit. Yummy. They also have these oversized bake potatoes- one makes a huge meal!

On the scrapbooking home front, it seems that
the king of the scrapbooking mags Creating Keepsakes, seems to be in trouble.

Signs of the time. Hey if the economycan take down the big guys like GM and CitiBank, what's to say about CK?

I was reading on 2peas how the price of paper has gone up. Pink Paislee has some paper that is 2.99 a sheet! I realize that the paper is die cut and has spme glitter, but that
is high. I'm glad I have ther cricut I can make my own die cut paper, lace paper out of any paper.

I'm a huge fan of Baseball particularly the NY Yankees, but this week there's something special- The World Baseball Classic. There are 15 different countries involved including USA, Cuba and Mexico. So far USA has won the two games they were in so they've advanced to the next round.
Two years ago we were knocked out of the second round. It was embarrassing. The country that invented the game knocked out so this time they are on a mission to win. Go USA!

Time to get to my to-do list.

Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse...

....that's the mantra of those who consider themselves "green". Very fashionable nowadays.

I won't say that I'm extremely green. but I do my part. I do recycle and I try to make right choices.
That being said, I decided to get more out of my mat. I got this tip from a couple of different sites...
First clean the mat very well. I use clorox disinfecting wipes and scrub well. It picks up all the paper fibers. When it dies, but blue paints tape on the exterior part the part that isn't normally sticky so it won't gum up the rollers.
Then use a Zip 2 way glue pen with the wide chisel tip and go down then across covering all the sticky area. Let it dry very well and viola! You have a sticky mat again!
One less piece of plastic in the landfill, lol. Unless it breaks of course.

I've been cruising the Cricut Board more than the 2 Peas board lately.
Those people on the Cricut board are a wealth of info!
Not only about Cricut related posts but a lot of things in general.
It was there that I learned about the new EK Success slim line punches!

The slim line punches saves storage space because the part of the punch that usually sticks up can fold down when you want to store it.
It's wonderful!
I decided I had to get one- yeah I shouldn't have, but with a 40% coupon in hand I picked up the binding one.. makes paper look like it was torn out of a spiral bound notebook!

Wednesday , kids and craziness

Today was my turn to entertain the kids at the kid's church group.
I decided to make clipboards. It's funny how some followed my example and some just did their thing.
I told them they had creative license. Boy some took it to the extreme, lol.

It's been insanely busy at work. I normally get out at 4:30 pm and today I left at 5:30 pm. Ugh. I'm totally wiped out.

I was surfing the cricut message board and found out tat Provo is testing the idea of making a pink Cricut!
I won't get it because I have one but it looks great! I am loving it!

I tried out for another design team @ My Sketch World and did not make it, pooh. I used one of her sketches and
here's the layout I submitted.

The Home Decor Cart came with the E I purchased on Black Friday @ Walmart. It was exclusive to Walmart's Expression that sold that day. You may be able to find it on E-bay. But I've been reading about it that they are getting top dollar for that Cartridge since it's an exclusive cartridge.

Busy Week!

Going back to work was something.
Very busy. Although my chest isn't feeling 100%
It is is much better than it's been. Glad to feel somewhat normal.

I've been scrapping just about everyday. I made three layouts this week- a lot for someone who sporadically scraps!
I'm trying to get a group of pictures off my desk. They've been sitting here since July so it's time.

How was every one's Valentine? Mine was quiet. We didn't do a thing and that was fine by me. I made dinner and we spent the evening together. That's what I wanted.

Now everyone has been chatting up a storm all over the Internet over Die Cut's with a View new line of stack papers. I've never been a fan of stacks cause I feel I'd never use some, but not this time. My favorite 2 new ones is the Recycled and the Garden Party.
Some of them are wonderful. What I love the most about this whole "rage" is how clever DCWV has presented their line- with a video!

The weather here in Texas is insane. One day I'm blasting the AC in the car, the next day I'm blasting the heat in the car. It's only in the 40's day. @ days ago reached 70. You figure it out cause I can't. lol.

I wanted to share an amazing scrapbook space. It's actually a shed!
DH and i discussed building one for me in the back, but our yard isn't big enough. Perhaps if we decided to buy a place with more land I can get one. The only other requirement is a bathroom.

It's too early.....

...For tornadoes and storms that is.

But here I am THANKING GOD that a really bad storm has passed us by and we didn't get any tornadoes. The Storm as wreaked havoc in Oklahoma and I think 6 people have died and it came into Texas and whipping 50-70 mph winds, but we're safe. WHEW. Some other areas of north Texas claim to have seen tornadoes. I'm just glad it's over.

That's one thing I just can't get use to living here.

I wanted to post a coupe of projects I made. I submitted them to Spellbinders for their design team contest, but wasn't chosen. Uh, maybe next time. I really like the way the little foot stool came out.

Well, The weekend is over, Bleh.

It's been one crazy week.
I've once again drained my bank account and handed the money over to the several doctors I visited this week.

Man did I miss the boat on that one.
Should've really studied medcine of some sort.

So the list of visits were as follow:

Mammogram: I should've taken DH to this appointment. He complains when they do a colon rectal exam. I told him he doesn't have a right until someone grabs one of his body parts and squeezes it into a vice and asks you not to move AND hold your breath.

Gynecologist: Yes more annual checking and lovely pap smear of the um, you know.

Podiatrist: Check to make sure my foot is better, which after the cortisone shot torture and the $40.00 ointment is feeling better.

Pulmonary Specialist: Well, Mrs. you're bronchial tubes are very irritated. DUH? That's why I'm on enough steroids to pick up a small car, having terrible mood swings and I'm bloated beyond belief.

General Practitioner: Annual Check up, draw blood (yeah! only one stab!) state the obvious "need to loose weight".

So every orifice was checked this week. Everything is accounted for and I go back to work tomorrow. I also start my cutting back on JUNK food. Ugh. The weight has been such a battle for me.

Since I was actually feeling better I decided to scrub the master bath shower and garden tub. You know what I mean. Major SCRUBBING with brushes in hand and not stopping til the grout sparkles. I also decided to change the show head. The previous owners had one of those rain show heads which can be nice but was way to big for the shower stall. I decided that comfort was more important than beauty so I got one of those hand held Water Massagers, I bought a chrome one, just couldn't find a picture.
I can now rinse the shower better. I plan to replace the shower head with one of these in the other bathroom as well. Also saves a great amount of water at the same time.

Speaking of savings (or not) we also dropped off our paperwork to get our taxes done. Yeah, lovely.
I also got a tidbit from the accountant. They've reintroduced energy savings home improvement tax write off for 2009. Which mean if you do any home improvement/major purchases where you are increasing energy savings you will be able to write off the purchase tax on your 2009 taxes.

I'm glad she told us. We're thinking of doing some improvements on our air condition system and perhaps replace our dishwasher (at least that's on MY agenda) So we'll try to do it for 2009.

Finally, I finished yet another layout, YAY!

An AHA Moment

I was watching Scrapbook Memories and they had a segment on hybrid scrapbooking and
it got me thinking.
I own alot of digi kits, I mean ALOT!
With all I'm trying to do to cut down my spending why not do some hybrid pages instead of buying things?
AHA!

So when we had out gas logs installed last Thursday, I took pics and decided to do a hybrid page.
I created the page digitally and added the Maya Road swirls to it.
Although I'm a bit rusty with my digi skills, (It's been quite a while) I think it came out ok.

The digi kit is French Country Side from Shabby Princess.

Testing some changes.....

Challenging Myself

I've decided to see how many layouts I can make in February.
This is the first time I do this... I hope I can keep up.
I've also challenged myself to just use items I already own.
I made the following layout using Basic Grey's color me silly, which I opened for the first time.
Yes, shameful.
Actually, I really don't have many occasions to break out the bright pattern paper.
I thought the pics called out for color. I also broke out the Basic Grey rub-ons.
I made the layout simple because I wanted the pics to stand out. the title was made with the cricut plantin school book and the watermelon on stretch your imagination. the scan may look crooked, but the layout is straight, lol.

The next layout is of the only sister my mother has left. My aunt was the only one who came from cuba and has lived here for over 30 years. We always have a great time together. She accompanied my mom this past summer to visit me here in Texas and she claimed to really enjoy herself. She's 78 yrs old, but quite strong.
The pictures were taken at the Dallas Farmers Market. We were both amazed at the color of the flowers, they were real! My aunt loved to garden so I thought it would be a great picture since it defines one of her loves. Paper is Basic Grey and I cut the label out of the story book cart.

On the home front, I'm still dealing with the Asthma thingy. I'm on 3 prednisone tables daily, plus singular, plus advair and I'm scheduled to see the doctor today to see if I can cut back. I don't like to take prednisone for so long, not good for your bones also it being a steroid all I need is an additional excuse to gain more weight.

I've changed the background of my blog again, I think I found something I'll stick with for a while. If you're getting a digest come check out the blog!

I'm still working on getting my scrapbook studio organized so DH and I are going to the container store to get some of the elfa shelf system this week end. I just need a few shelves and the brackets, nothing fancy. Their system is so easy to install that we're going that route.
I have been eyeing some baskets at Michael's which are 40% off this week, hmmm, let's see......

On the scrapbooking front I found pictures of Paris Hilton's new craft line. I have to say, it's not my style, but I can see a younger crowd wanting to use it.

Superbowl Sunday!

Uh not that it matters to me. Yep GASP!
Sorry not a Football fan, don't even understand the game.
But I did what ever respectable red-blooded American does this day- watched the commercials, lol.
I love the commercials.

I also spent the day resting and scrapping. I wanted to work on my pics from The Japanese Gardens in FT. Worth. They've been sitting o my desk for soooo long.
It also gave me the excuse to break out the basic Grey Periphery Pack that has been calling my name.

I was experimenting with my Cricut and used the deep blade housing to cut out some chipboard. The chipboard is from a box of crackers (way to be green) and I sprayed the pieces with archival mist so no worries. With the deep blade housing I was able to get awa with one pass on a 6 high for pressure and medium speed.

the layout is about the Koi fish at the Japanese Gardens. Man are they big!. They have machines filled with pellets and you can buy a handful to feed the fish and the fish know it, lol. They all come near when you stand close to the water, lol.

Oe nice thing about Japanese Gardens is the serenity. Everything seems so peaceful and quiet. Also the statues. The Japanese use a lot of sculptures and statues in their gardens and the Ft. Worth Garden is no different. I took as many pics as I could and created the simple layout. I wanted it to show off the pics so not a lot of elements to the layout. The title is cricut plantin schoolbook
and I used the negative in tags. The paper backing the title is embossed with a cuttlebug folder, the swirls. I liked the way it came out.

I've been trying to get some more info on new products for the old bloggy when I ran into Dymo's latest labeler the Caption Maker.
The Labeler comes with 3 different fonts!. Now Dymo had made a labeler with different fonts in the past and I happen to own one and I can tell you it's fun to have the different lettering.
The new model is cute cause it's pink (of course). If you go to the website you'll see a close up of what each lettering looks like.

Purging and Cleaning

I've been at it.
Yep, spring cleaning has begun.
I went though all my magazines and purged. Funny thing is that I posted this on the Cricut board and someone in Grand Prarie came by and picked up the old mags!
They're new to scrapbooking and want books to look at. t was nice meeting Terry.
We're planning to get together for GASC in June. It'll be nice to have someone to share scrapbooking with. I sure miss that.

On the home front, Now we decided to break down and get a new vacuum. I've always wanted a Dyson and finally convinced DH. We got the D25 animal for people with pets. Yes Samson is only 7 lbs but he's a shedding maniac. I can't believe how much hair falls off that little dog. We bought a Eureka when we moved into this home June 2007 and the thing won't pick up anything anymore, especially the fur that Samson sheds.

Plunking down all this money was not for the faint hearted, bit I've learned 2 things after buying a vaccum cleaner nearly every 2 yrs; We had to try a Dyson.

we went to Target to pick it up and got a 55.00 gift card in the process, cool.
We go home about 10 pm and I ripped open the box and went at it. OMG! The thing is amazing!
I love the ball feature and the vacuum is way lighter than that orange Eureka monster we were using. I quickly kicked the Eureka into the garage and went to town. I ended up emptying the canister twice. So far so good. The extra long wand is wonderful since I have 10 ft ceilings.

I was checking out the Cricut message boards when saw the post of a gorgeous scrapbook room. I decided to spruce mine up. You have to check the hyperlink. I would love a pink fridge but I'm only steps away from the kitchen and there's no space.

I'm going to make a cover for my expression and curtains for the book shelf I have It just looks cluttered regardless of what I do with it. I'll wait til next week to go to Joann's to see what i can find.

There's also one empty wall where I want to put some open shelves. I purchased a couple of old Cameras on Ebay over a year ago and want to display them, along with some of my creations.
I have to measure the wall and see what to come up with it.

I went to Michael's yesterday after reading that they have clearanced the baseball and the Indie carts for 19.99! I know, i broke my rule of not shopping, but DH agreed with me that the price was great. I also wanted that cart because of the wings, the different card symbols (working a cute project) .

I just have not recovered from this insane bout of Asthma.
I have taken over 6 different medications and nothing. I was out of work last week and it things aren't looking good for this week either. Ugh.
Along with that over 200.00 in doctor's visits and medication. Again, I wish I could've used the money for scrapping supplies, lol.

Speaking of Scrapping, CHA winter was this past weekend and sneak peeks are starting to surface all over the web.

I'll share the ones that I like best, I'll try to put a variety of things as soon as I find them.

One of my favorite lines is Basic Grey- I've purchased just ab out every line.

Here are newest. The pics are a bit fuzzy, but I got it off of their website, go figure.
Of course I'm loving the porcelain cause of all the pinks.
But I have to be frank, I like them all. One the list of things to get.

Now for some non scrapping news- we got a Kroger near us!. Horray!
Whenever I needed something from the grocery store I had to schlep almost 4 miles away. Needless to say if I forgot something it wss too bad. I wasn't going back. The new store which opened on Friday, is only 1/4 mile away. It's crazy to say, but I've been at the store at least 5 times since Friday. I had one of my prescriptions filled there cause they are giving 30.00 on your Kroger food card if you open a new prescription account.

The other nice thing is that Kroger has a gas station and you get a 10 cent discount per gallon very convenient and great to get gas cheaper.

Yesterday, I sent DH to get some lunch for us at Kroger. Yeah they have prepared food like chicken and sanwiches. It was nice. So very nice.

I'm still feeling horrible and I'm getting tired of coughing and my throat and my back is hurting so much. I had DH pick up a robitussin to help calm the cough. I'll make this post short.

I've been surfing the web alot since I don't feel like doing anything else. I'm trying to find out what coming from CHA which starts this sunday. I found pictures of new cricut cartridges. Hannah montana, spong bob, and others. I like the fonts on the hannah montana. It'll be a couple of months before they're out so I have time.

Schleping Along

Ugh I feel awful.
I've had a raspy throat since Saturday night and it all settled in my chest. I'm asthmatic so this is not good at all.
I went to the doctor yesterday and $95.00 dollars later, I still didn't sleep last night. I was up coughing. Mind you the nurse practitioner didn't give me anything for the cough so I've been using cough drops.
I have to go back to see if they give me some heavy duty stuff, lol.
I also went to the podiatrist. I've had a pain in my right foot for about 6 moths. Yeah way too long. It turns out it's tendonitis. The doc gave a shot of cortisone and had a compound created for a topical anti inflammatory. That was another 47.00!
I just keep thinking all the scrapbook stuff I can buy with that money, lol.

I wanted to share one of my qwirky loves.
Vintage Pyrex. YES, Pyrex. My mom started me off by giving me a couple of her bowls and now I can't have enough of them. They're so well made and versatile. you can use it in a microwave, oven and are dishwasher safe.

Luckily I've found a couple of pieces at a couple of antique stores that are near by. I've compared their prices with ebay and it's pretty reasonable when you consider shipping. They're pretty heavy.

My favorite pattern is called crazy daisy. I have no idea why I like the pieces so much. Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood.

I've been scouring the web for scrapping related info and stumbled upon two startling news:
Simple Scrapbook Magazine will stop the magazine with the May/June 09 issue.
This is sad for me. Atone point I subscribed to all the magazines that were out there and they've dwindled in numbers. I have the first issue of simple scrapbooks. I guess I'll keep it.

The other thing I learned is that Fiskars is getting rid of their consumable lines, like heidi swapp, lil davis, cloud 9. They're going back to their roots of just creating tool.
Maybe they'll finally come out a trimmer that will cut straight, lol.

Now there's some other startling news= Paris Hilton is coming out with a crafts line?
Lordy.
Who knows what that woman's up to. We'll have to wait to find out when it debuts at CHA.

I was humming that as I walked through the local Bass Pro Shop. This is the mega (and I mean TEXAS, MEGA SIZE) outdoor sporting store. I'm not talking the dwarf size selections at Walmart, Kmart or even Sears. If you click on the link you'll see pics of this store.
The store is decorated with rugged poles and animals, yep, stuffed animals -everywhere. There's even an aquarium with giant catfish.

It's an amazing place. I felt like I was walking through the NY Museum of Natural History,lol.
The waterfall, the bridges, the snake in the tank, lol. Texas still amazes me......

Time to Organize

It doesn't happen often, the feel of purging.
I tend to want to hold onto things. Not exactly a hoarder, but I do get that "what if I need it later?"
feeling so I hold onto to things.

So when I get this desire to get of stuff, I jump on it!

DH and I went Saturday to the container store. I just love that place!
I walked around before picking up a few things. DH spent some time looking at the Elfa system.
We want to organize the closets so it's on our list of things to do.

I bought a couple of divider containers for some small items in my scrap area and one of those cool angle measuring cups.

The organizing and getting utilitarian things has continued. A mall not too far from me has a Corelle/Corning Ware Outlet. We stopped in there yesterday and I picked up some plates for everyday, a couple of serving bowls and a couple of the pyrex portables. I got one a round dish for only 6.00 and one rectangle for 12.00!

I'm now ready if someone asks me to bring something for a potluck!

Resolutions?

It's that time of year again.
Yep it's the time to start fresh and make some changes in your life.
Most people I know make New Year's Resolutions and I'm no different.
I have a list of things I want to work on. Some are probably the same for you.

1. Loose significant amount of weight
2. eat healthier
3. spend less, save more
4. Explore Texas a little more
5. Just be grateful in everything

Scrapbook related:

1. set a goal of 200 layouts for the year
2. Use only my stash for the next 3 months and see how it goes
3. Get back into digi scrapping
4. clean out my scrapbook room of unused stuff
5. Get published atleast once this year
6. Improve on my photography

Okay, so it looks very similar to last year's list.
There's always room for improvement, right?

Now while everyone is going nuts over the 365 project over at 2peas, I decided not to join in the craziness of snapping and scrapping one photo a day for the next 365 days. That's too much stress as far as I'm concern. However I did find something I'd like to try that's I think is more my speed. The gratitude project is one layout a week expressing what you're grateful for.
At then end of the year, you'll have a scrapbook filled with things you're grateful for.

I was over at the Etsy website and I found the coolest camera straps on there. What I like is that you'll be able to tell which camera is yours. At church there are three with canon rebels and I always make sure mine is on my shoulder just in case. You can look here to see one etsy shop. If you do a search you're gonna find that there are several making the straps and other camera acessories.

I also found some pretty cool looking camera bags. Some fit point and shoot cameras others for slr cameras. I think it's a great idea if you're traveling because it doesn't look like a camera bag.
Here's the site I've found. They're pricey but seem to be well constructed. They only thing I'd do is probably add Scotchguard to the outside of the bag and straps to help keep them clean.

I think Samson is mad at me

I got out of work early (yay!) and went over to Petco to pick up some dog food and some treats for Samson. All though Christmas is over, I bought a Santa Hat for him ( only $1.00) and decided to take some pictures. I put it on him and begged, no pleaded for him to sit near the tree. He was not happy. He did not like the hat what so ever. Or perhaps he didn't like my cackling laugh. I couldn't help it. He looked hysterical in the hat.

We went to the doggy park, wiggly field and after we got home, I tried to get more pics again.
I had Samson sit in his bed and took several pics.

As you can see from the photos he was pissed off again lol. At one point he even refused to look at me.

After a few pics he glared at me, showing his teeth.

Last he looked so pitiful.

Poor thing. I finally took the hat off of him and gave him a treat.

As I mentioned earlier, we went to the dog park. Now we've been there before and the same thing happens. Samson likes going but when he sees the other dogs he gets intimidated. My poor Samson turns into Delilah, lol.

There's a picnic table in the small dog area and he'll hide under the table or jump on top of it trying to get away from the dogs. The Little dogs.
I think it;s because he's not socialized enough with other dogs. DH and I decided that when the weather gets better we'll go everyday for a couple of weeks to see if it'll break him out of that behavior.

That's the end of the dog saga. Now onto my great finds.
I'm a fan of buying Christmas items after Christmas. I love to get things for the following year. It's even more exciting to open the plastic binds where I store everything and find something I forgot I've bought.

I went over to Walmart and found some Christmas goodies. A table cloth reg 9.00 for 2.00
a table runner reg 9.00 for 1.25. Place mats regularly 3.00 FOR .75 CENTS!
I also picked up Martha Steward punches and glitter for 2.20 each!
So everything but the MS stuff will go into the
containers til next Christmas Season.
It'll be fun to open those containers again.

Before I forget Winkflash has a special going on 6 cents a photo so it's a good time to get your digi pics developed!

I decided to post the layouts I worked on last week a little each day. They'll also be on my slide if you want to check them out.
I used my cricut mostly for scallop shapes and titles. I used mostly Die Cuts with a View Pets Paper Pad, Autum Leaves journaling stamps, Jolees, stickles for the layouts. I was trying to keep it simple with the layouts. If you have a question regarding something I've used just post and I'll reply.
I'd love to hear what you think of my layouts. As you can see my poor dog is the subject of my current layouts. I'm just happy he can't talk back and tell me how much he hates me, lol.

I did!

It was quiet for the most part We went to visit my SIL on the 24th. She lives about an hour away and be took Samson with us. She has two dogs and a cat. It was nice to see her new place, so much potential. I'm just glad that we're not going through any remodeling. Ugh, been there done that and don't want to do it AGAIN.

I miss my family. It was hard not to have anyone around for my birthday and Christmas. We talked about going home, but it was way too expensive. Maybe we can swing it for next year.

Over all my week was very productive. I made 16 layouts along with the mini calendars!
Yep boys and girls the woman scraps with the stuff she buys, lol. I used my cricut like crazy for titles. I love the welding feature of Design Studio. I also loved the new carts I've gotten.
In a short time I've amassed 12 cartridges! I got some moolah for my birthday and went shopping on line. I was able to get three carts with no shipping! I also ordered some odds and ends that I needed, like reinkers for my distressed ink pads and O wire for the bind it all.

Back to work tomorrow. Ugh, so the sleeping late and scrapping late in to the nights are over- for now. I'll be posting my layouts soon.

On this day many moons ago, (I refuse to tell how many moons so don't ask) a young woman from Cuba gave birth to a daughter born in Brooklyn, NY.
The baby was born prematurely at 8 months but seemed to be in good health.
she grew up to be very artistic and loves all crafts....

Hmmm sounds familiar? Yep it's my Birthday today.
3 days before Christmas. I love this time of year and don't mind that my birthday is close to the Savior's .
I'm on vacay this week and so I did nothing today but create some mini calendars.
I just love to have time to do what I love to do. You can see a link how to make it on the previous post.

I got the greatest birthday card from my sister and niece. It's a Hallmark card with sound- click on the link so you can hear it- it's pretty funny.

I forgot to post the picture of the Santa cover for wine bottles yesterday. Here goes.

Cricut Whirlwind

Brrr! It's cold here! It was about 18 degrees today! I made sure I stayed in today!

I've been using my cricut the past couple of days.
I was lucky enough to pick up the Dream Studio software offered by Provo. I immediately went to work to create a scallop square and used it to make a layout.
There's nothing fancy about the layout but I like it.
I also broke out the Basic Grey Skate Shoppe that I've been hoarding for the last couple of years. I used Indy Grab and Jasper from the pack. I used a Maya Road Swirl covered it with the Jasper paper Icut out from the middle and I used the sticker letters included. Hey I figure if I break open the pack I should use the sticker letters.

The scallop square was custom made. I look on the cartridges I have and non has a scallop square. I followed Sue's Tutorial on her blog.
It took me a while to figure out the welding function, especially when I cut it out for the first time and nothing was welded.

I also picked up 2 more carts Storybook and Opposites Attract. I used the Michael's Flyer at Walmart and they priced matched. I had Walmart gift cards from my job so I ended up spending only 20.00 for the two carts and the software. Sweet!

The software is pretty cool if you are using the carts. My favorite feature is the search function. You can search from Provo's entire library of images whether you own the cart or not. So if you're looking for that scallop square you'll know if it's in a cart you already own.

I went to Hobby Lobby to look around and I found Figgy Pudding there (yay) the the Autumn Leaves Journal ing stamps that I've been wanting. Love the one with the quotes.
For those who have never been in a Hobby Lobby, they have a large collection of home decorating goods, like frames, pictures, candles. They have the most amazing Christmas collection. All kinds of goodies. I was walking around just drooling over everything when I came upon the most amazing nativity scenes. I took some pics with my camera phone, forgive the quality. It's an Angel who's wings are wrapped around Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. i would love it but it's 150.00 50% off. Still too high at 75.00. I'll wait til after Christmas to see If I can get it cheaper.

while I was out and about I stopped in Kroger's
and was walking by the wines and found the cutest outfit for your wine gift:

so cute.
I'm off work next week and hope to get alot of scrapping related done. We'll see.
One of the things I want to work on is making a cute mini calendar I found on 2 Peas. I think I'll make one for my supervisor at work.

Split coast Stampers are great group.
I found this tutorial for coasters.

There's also a great place here in Texas called Ten Seconds Studio.
The use metal in their designs and they have great plates that they use the plates to emboss their metal. But you can easily use the plates on paper and chipboard. They have some great videos on their site.

Busy Busy!

Whew!
What a whirlwind the past couple of days!

We had our Christmas Party on Saturday and I was preparing the house. I finally put up all he decorations and lights, did all the scrubbing getting everything shiny.

We had about 40 people attend if you include kids. I was surprise that every one was comfortable.
It got pretty warm in here although it was cold outside so I end up putting the air conditioner on!
Samson got hugged and petted to death, lol. The only thing that drove me crazy was when we were doing the gift exchange. Someone had the brilliant idea to bring a glitter Christmas tree. Yes Glitter. Needless to say the glitter has gotten into everything. I've vaccummed three times and mopped twice and there's still glitter. Even Samson seems to have some on him.

It was nice to have people over but I can tell you that I was exhausted the next day. My feet and back hurt. After I got home from church I went to Kroger to get some Swiffer wet mop refills tried to get some more glitter out and then took a nap.

It's my craft time with the kids this Wednesday and I decided to make framed pictures of the kids. We'll stick them in a gift bag and a perfect gift for their parents for Christmas. I used my Sister-In-Law's dog, Lucy in the same frame. lol. These frames are inexpensive, only $1.00 and available at Michael's.

The weather as been really weird lately. Sunday was in the high 70's and yesterday there was sleet and snow, down into the 20's.
It's so hard to dress. I'm always layering just in case.

The Christmas Tree Saga continues

I wanted to post pics of DH and Samson trying to fix the tree. DH was able to pull out the offending light strand without having to take the tree apart, hooray! Samson thinks climbing on DH's legs is the way to help. Especially since he brought over one of his toys!

Reoccuring Christmas Nightmare

What's the worst thing that can happen to you when you're decorating for a Christmas Party?
Aw come on think harder!
There you go, that's it! Your Christmas Tree lights die- while on the tree!

Yea, it took me forever to decorate the tree and then the lights DIE! I had a fit.
I begged them to go on. I prayed and laid hands on the tree- nothing. DH told me to just replace the string of lights- I looked at him like he was insane and I was just a signature away from committing him. He must have read my mind because he quickly went to the tree and found the problem- a fuse was out. That was 2 days ago, so why did the light start to flicker again (um, I have them on steady no blinking) and then they were out again? Because someone is not being nice to me. Needless to say I took a picture of the dark tree and looked at DH to fix them again.
UGH! I just hope the lights behave for Saturday's Christmas Party.

Putting up the tree was also Samson's first time. He looked intrigued why a big 'ol tree was in the living room. I told DH that Samson must look at the size (7 ft) in aw like we do when we see the tree at Rockafeller Center, lol. He's a tiny doggie weighing only 7 lbs. I took a couple of pics of him near the tree. He's been surprisingly good- hasn't even been near the tree since I put it up. I've hard of people's night mare with their pets and trees, so I'm glad Samson is not interested.

Yesterday the women of my church got together for their annual Christmas ornament exchange.
We do the picking a gift then if you want to steal it from someone (I know how ironic) you can, and that person gets to choose a new gift or steals someone Else's.
I ended with a cute one.

The weather has dropped dramatically here in north Texas. It was in the high 60's Tuesday and when I went to work today it was only 23 degrees. BRR. But the weather here in Texas is crazy. It'll be back up in the 60's tomorrow. It make it hard to get dressed in the morning that's for sure.

Scrapbooking not an Art?

It seems that a professor who teaches Graphic Design doesn't think that modern day scrap booking is worthy of being called art. Jessica Helfand has criticized us scrap artists and the industry that's been created.

This isn't the first time she's attacked scrapbookers. It's just sad that she continues this line of writing. The irony of it is that she's written a book about the history of scrap booking where she continues to defame the modern day scrapbooker.

I just want to say that whether I decide to create my scrapbooks from recycled objects such as old books, cards, magazines or I purchase pre ade items does not make me any less a scrapbooker than those who have come before me.

Many chefs use pre -made items n their cooking, does that make their creations less than those who chooose to make everything from scratch?

I proudly preserve my memories with the available tools that I have. The one thing that my predecessors and I put into our books is our heart and soul.

Personally I believe that future generations will continue to scrapbook; perhaps not with paper and tangible items. I think the computer and the portability to carry the Internet in your pocket will make for some interesting ways to scrapbook.

I just hope when someone looks at my scrapbook years from now, they'll see beyond the papers and embellishments and just see that I was trying to do the one thing that really matters, preserve memories.

I have to clean it in order to be able to create. So when you see the following pictures you'll probably think "sure, she cleaned up".
I've been working on a gift album I made for a co-worker for Christmas. She's helped me alot this past year and I felt that i should make a mini album. But of course I had to pull out ALL Christmas related items to get this mini album done. Thus the mess all over my desk.

I tend to keep all embellishments in a set of Iris Carts in my closet. Each draw labeled by theme.
But I can't extend some of the draws and so I have to pull things out to figure out what I have.
Same with the stamps. So everything was flying all over the place.

I'm happy to report that I'm done with the project so my desk is nice and clean AGAIN.

Now before I post pics of the mini album here's a disclaimer:

I scrapped with old-school stuff.
Yeah, stuff you probably can no longer find.

Hey I've been scrapping for over 8 years - so I have a huge stash that I'm determined to use!
So if you love something I've used, please don't go crazy looking for it because it's probably circa 2003.

Although I use older stuff, I do try to incorporate my old stuff with newer items or techniques.
For example you'll see I used a lot of making memories metal. Yeah I know. But I love that Stazon will stick to it so I colored everything.

The mini Album is Making Memoriies Chipboard mini book. I had to remove the posts and put rings on because it got so thick. Besides, rings give me an excuse to use the million of yards of ribbon that I own. I'm just loading a few pics if you want to see the whole thing look under my slide scrolling bar on the right.
